What Happened
The air bag in your S8 or A8 is designed to protect you in a crash. However, in some cases, the part that covers the passenger seat may not have been folded correctly.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash and an unbuckled child or small person is sitting close to the dashboard, the air bag could deploy too forcefully and cause serious injury.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will replace the faulty air bag module with a new one, at no cost to you. You'll receive a letter with instructions on how to schedule the repair, and you can also contact Audi's customer service at 1-800-253-2834.

Original — What Happened
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2022-2023 S8 and A8 vehicles. During air bag assembly, the front-passenger occupant protection flap of the air bag may not have been folded correctly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Original — Risk if Unfixed
In a crash, an incorrectly folded air bag can deploy with too much force, increasing the risk of injury to a child or small person who is seated and unbelted on the front passenger seat and very close to the instrument panel.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the front-passenger air bag module, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 14, 2023. Owners may contact Audi's customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 69ET.

What Happened
The infotainment system's main unit in your vehicle is the brain of your car's entertainment and navigation display. In some 2021-2022 Audi models, this unit can get damaged when the car is turned off, causing issues with your rearview camera display when you start the engine again.
Risk if Unfixed
If your rearview camera display isn't working, you'll have reduced visibility behind your vehicle, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will replace the infotainment main unit with a new one, at no cost to you. This repair will restore your rearview camera display and ensure your safety on the road.

(Audi) is recalling certain 2021-2022 AUDI A8, A6 Allroad, E-TRON Quattro, 2022 S3, RSQ8, RS7, RS6 Avant, Q8, Q7, Q3, E-TRON Sportback Quattro, S5 Cabriolet, E-TRON GT, S5 Sportback, A7, A6, A5 Sportback, A5 Cabriolet, A4, A4 Allroad, A3, S8, SQ7, SQ8, S6, and S4 vehicles. The infotainment main unit may become damaged internally when the vehicle is shut off, resulting in an inoperative rearview camera display the next time the vehicle is started. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

What Happened
The rearview camera in your Audi vehicle provides a view of what's behind your car. However, some 2019-2026 models may have a software issue that prevents the camera image from showing up on your screen.
Risk if Unfixed
If the rearview camera image doesn't display, you'll have a reduced view of what's behind your vehicle, which could increase the risk of a crash, especially when reversing or backing out of a parking space.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will update the software to fix the issue, and this repair is free of charge. You should schedule the update as soon as you receive the recall notice.
