Component
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER
Manufacturer
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
What Happened
The turbocharger in your Audi is like a high-speed fan that helps your engine breathe. It relies on a special filter to keep it well-oiled, but in some 2013-2017 models, this filter can get clogged, starving the turbocharger of the lubrication it needs.
Risk if Unfixed
If the filter clogs and the turbocharger's bearings get worn down, your engine can stall or even seize up completely. This could leave you stranded and make it harder to control your vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will swap out the faulty oil strainer and give your engine a fresh oil change – all on the house. You should schedule this repair as soon as you get the recall notice to keep your turbocharger running smoothly and safely.
