What Happened
The turbocharger in your Audi is like a supercharger that helps your engine breathe. A small filter, called the oil supply strainer, keeps it running smoothly. In some 2013-2017 models, this filter can clog up and cause problems.
Risk if Unfixed
If the oil strainer gets blocked, the turbocharger's bearings will wear out, and the turbine wheel could hit the housing or even break the shaft. This could cause your engine to stall, making it hard to control your vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will replace the faulty oil strainer and give your engine a fresh oil change – all at no cost to you. You should schedule this free repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2013-2017 A8, S6 Sedan, S7, S8, and 2014-2017 RS7 vehicles. The turbocharger oil supply strainer can become blocked, causing wear to the bearings due to lack of lubrication.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
Worn bearings can cause the turbine wheel to contact the turbocharger housing or cause the shaft to break, causing an engine stall and increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the oil strainer and perform an oil change, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 4, 2022. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 21H7.
