What Happened
The outer tie rod assembly in your vehicle is a critical part that helps steer your vehicle. The ball joint that connects it can wear out and deform under heavy loads.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, you might notice that your vehicle is hard to steer, especially at high speeds or when turning. This could increase your risk of being involved in a crash.

Your Volvo dealer will replace the faulty tie rod assembly with a new, improved one at no cost to you. They'll do this fix for free, so schedule an appointment as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES,THE OUTER TIE ROD BALL JOINT CAN DEFORM AT HIGH LOADS CAUSING A LOSS OF THE CLAMPING FORCE AND THE NUT MAY LOOSEN, WHICH MAY EVENTUALLY LEAD TO A FATIGUE FRACTURE OF THE OUTER TIE ROD BALL JOINT.

THE DRIVER MAY NOTICE THAT THE VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE OUTER BALL JOINT TIE RODS WITH IMPROVED OUTER BALL JOINT TIE RODS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 23, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLVO AT 1-800-458-1552.
