What Happened
The fuel pump in your vehicle is responsible for delivering gasoline from the tank to the engine. In some 2001-2005 models, the pump can crack in hot climates with temperature changes and poor fuel quality.
Risk if Unfixed
If the pump cracks, you might notice a fuel smell or leak. If this happens near an ignition source, it could cause a fire.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will inspect the fuel pump and replace it with a new, improved one if needed – all for free. Schedule the repair when you get your recall notice.

VOLVO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2001-2005 S80, MODEL YEAR 2001-2004 V70, S60, XC70 AND MODEL YEAR 2003-2005 XC90 VEHICLES SOLD IN OR REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF ALABAMA, ARIZONA, ARKANSAS, CALIFORNIA, FLORIDA, GEORGIA, HAWAII, KENTUCKY, LOUISIANA, MISSISSIPPI, NEVADA, NEW MEXICO, NORTH CAROLINA, OKLAHOMA, SOUTH CAROLINA, TENNESSEE, TEXAS, UTAH, VIRGINIA AND THE U.S. TERRITORIES. What Happened
The tie rod assembly is a critical part of your steering system. It helps connect the front wheels to the steering rack and keeps your vehicle going straight when you're driving. In some 2006 Volvo models, the outer ball joint can wear out at high loads, losing its grip and potentially breaking.
Risk if Unfixed
If the outer ball joint fails, driving could become much harder. The steering might feel loose or spongy, making it harder to control your vehicle. This could increase the risk of a crash, especially in heavy traffic or emergency maneuvers.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the faulty outer ball joint tie rods with stronger, improved versions – at no cost to you. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

What Happened

Risk if Unfixed
If the sensors fail, it could cause your vehicle's brakes, engine, transmission, and stability systems to malfunction. This could make it harder to control your vehicle, especially when braking or driving on slippery roads.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the faulty sensors with new ones, free of charge. You'll receive a notification on December 8, 2003, but you can also call Volvo Cars at 1-800-458-1552 to schedule the repair.

If your wipers can't move and you're driving in bad weather, you'll have a hard time seeing the road ahead. This could lead to a crash.
