Component
LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCH
Manufacturer
Tesla, Inc.
What Happened
The hood latch on your vehicle is the mechanism that keeps your hood safely closed. In some 2021-2024 Model 3, S, X, and 2020-2024 Y models, the latch might not detect when the hood is open, which could be a problem.
Risk if Unfixed
If the latch fails, your hood could swing open while driving, blocking your view and making it harder to control your vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Tesla is sending out a free software update that will fix the issue. You should install it as soon as you receive the notification, and it'll be done remotely through your vehicle's system.
