STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM

Manufacturer
Tesla, Inc.
What Happened
The power steering in your Model S is controlled by a system that helps you turn the wheels. It uses bolts that can corrode over time, which could cause the power steering to fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the power steering fails, you'll need to exert more force to turn the wheels, especially at low speeds. This could make it harder to steer, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Tesla will replace the bolts that connect the power steering system and add a protective coating to prevent further corrosion, all for free. You should schedule the repair at a Tesla Service Center as soon as you get the recall notice.
