What Happened
The software in your vehicle controls the rearview camera, making it easier to see behind your car when you're in reverse. However, a certain software version can cause the image to be delayed, making it harder to see what's behind you.
Risk if Unfixed
A delayed rearview image means you might not see pedestrians, children, or objects behind your vehicle when you're backing up — which could cause a crash.
Free Fix
Tesla will send you a software update that fixes the issue, and you'll be able to download it for free directly to your vehicle. You should check your email for the recall notice and follow the instructions to get the update installed.

Original — What Happened
Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2017, 2021-2023 Model 3, 2020-2023 Model Y, 2021-2023 Model S, and Model X vehicles operating software version 2026.8.6. The rearview camera image may be delayed when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

What Happened
The CPU in your vehicle's infotainment system is the brain that powers your center screen and other features. In some 2021-2022 Model S, X, 3, and Y vehicles, this CPU can overheat during fast-charging, causing it to slow down or shut down.
Risk if Unfixed
If the CPU slows down or shuts down, the center screen might not show you important info like the rearview camera image, gear selection, or warning lights. This could make it harder to drive safely and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Tesla will send an automatic software update to your vehicle's computer, which will help manage CPU temperatures and prevent overheating. This update is free, and you should look for a notification from Tesla once it's ready.
