Component

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ALTERNATOR/GENERATOR/REGULATOR

Manufacturer
Chrysler (FCA US LLC)
What Happened
The alternator in your vehicle is like a power generator that keeps your battery charged while you're driving. In some 2011-2014 Dodge Chargers, 2007-2013 RAM 3500, 2008-2013 RAM 4500 and 5500, and 2013 RAM 2500 and 3500 models, the alternator might suddenly stop working.
Risk if Unfixed
If the alternator fails on the road, your vehicle could stall without warning, making it hard to control. There's also a risk of an electrical short circuit, which could cause a fire.
Free Fix
Your dealer will swap out the old alternator with a new, improved one at no cost to you. The repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
