Component

STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE:SUPPORT DEVICE/STRUT

Manufacturer
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.
What Happened
The liftgate support system in your Outlander is made up of gas springs that help hold the hatchback in place. In some 2018-2022 PHEV and 2014-2020 Outlander models, these springs can corrode and lose pressure over time.
Risk if Unfixed
If a gas spring cylinder ruptures or the liftgate falls unexpectedly, you could be injured by the sudden impact or sharp edges.
Free Fix
Your Mitsubishi dealer will replace the left and right liftgate gas springs with new, more durable ones – at no cost to you. The repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
