FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

Manufacturer
Mazda North American Operations
What Happened
The evaporative canister in your Mazda6 is a part that helps your fuel tank breathe. In some 2010-2012 models with a 2.5L engine, spiders might build a web in the hose, blocking airflow and creating a vacuum in the tank.
Risk if Unfixed
If the tank gets too much negative pressure, it could crack, causing a fuel leak and increasing the risk of a fire.
Free Fix
Your Mazda dealer will update the computer system, clean out any spider webs in the hose, and replace the fuel tank and check valve if necessary – all for free.

Original — Risk if Unfixed
Negative pressure could cause the fuel tank to crack resulting in a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire.
Original — Remedy
