Manufacturer
MAZDA MOTOR CORP
What Happened
The fuel tank in your Mazda6 is a container that holds the gasoline. In some affected 2007-2008 models, the protective coating on the outside of the tank might have been damaged during manufacturing, making it more prone to rust.
Risk if Unfixed
If the coating is damaged, the fuel tank could start to rust and eventually leak. This could cause a fire if a spark is present, putting you and others at risk.
Free Fix
Your Mazda dealer will inspect the fuel tank's protective coating and fix or replace it if necessary, all at no cost to you. You'll receive a recall notice, and you should schedule the repair as soon as possible.
