FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY
What Happened
The fuel tank in your Mazda is the big container that holds gasoline. Certain 2007-2008 Mazda6 models built for California may have a problem with the protective coating on the outside of the tank, which could make it more prone to rust.
Risk if Unfixed
If the coating is damaged, the fuel tank could perforate, causing fuel to leak out. If there's an ignition source nearby, a leak could lead to a fire.
Free Fix
Your Mazda dealer will inspect the fuel tank for any damage to the protective coating and fix or replace the tank as needed – free of charge. You'll be notified when the repair is ready.
