What Happened
The driver's airbag in your vehicle is designed to deploy in a crash to protect you. In some 2003-2008 Mazda6, RX-8, and Mazdaspeed6 models, the airbag's inflator might not work properly due to exposure to moisture or manufacturing issues.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a severe crash and the airbag deploys, it could burst apart and send metal fragments into you or other passengers, causing severe injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your Mazda dealer will replace the faulty airbag inflator with a safer one at no cost to you. To ensure your safety, Mazda recommends not driving your vehicle until the repair is done. You'll be notified when the recall starts, and you can contact Mazda at 1-800-222-5500 for more information.
