What Happened
The front cross member is a metal beam that connects the front of your Mazda6 to the frame. It's exposed to road salt and could corrode over time, weakening the area where the passenger side lower control arm attaches.
Risk if Unfixed
If the cross member corrodes, the steering alignment could shift unexpectedly, making it harder to control your vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Mazda dealer will inspect the cross member and replace it with a new, rust-resistant one, or add a protective coating to prevent further corrosion. This service is completely free, and you should schedule an appointment as soon as you get the recall notice.
