Component
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
What Happened
The evaporative canister in your Mazda6 is a part that helps your fuel tank breathe. Spiders can sometimes build a web inside a hose that connects to this canister, which can block airflow and cause a vacuum
Risk if Unfixed
If the fuel tank gets a vacuum, it can crack and leak fuel, which increases the risk of a fire. This could happen while you're driving, which is a serious situation.
Free Fix
Your Mazda dealer will update the computer system that controls your engine and clean the hose that connects to the canister. If a spider web is found, they'll replace the fuel tank and a valve to prevent future problems – all for free.
