ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL

Manufacturer
Ford Motor Company
What Happened
The integrated trailer brake control is a system that helps you control your trailer's brakes and turn signals when you're towing. In certain 2021-2027 models, this system might lose connection with your vehicle while towing, which could cause problems with your trailer's lights and brakes.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your trailer's lights or brakes could fail, making it harder for you to control the trailer and increasing the risk of a crash. This could also make it harder for other drivers to see your trailer, which could lead to an accident.
Free Fix
A free software update will be applied to your integrated trailer module by a Ford dealer or through an over-the-air update. You'll get a notice with instructions on how to schedule the update, and you can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 for more information.
