Component
POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY
Manufacturer
Ford Motor Company
What Happened
The front axle pinion in your F-150, Expedition, or Navigator is a crucial part that helps transfer power from your transmission to the front wheels. It's like a strong, metal elbow that keeps your wheels connected to the rest of the drivetrain.
Risk if Unfixed
If the pinion breaks on the road, you could lose control of your vehicle's 4-wheel drive system, and your front wheels might lock up. This could make it hard to steer or stop your vehicle, increasing the risk of a collision.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will replace the faulty front axle pinion with a new one, or if it's already broken, they'll swap out the entire axle assembly. This repair is completely free, so schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
