What Happened
The seat belt pretensioner is the part that helps tighten your seat belt in a crash. In some 2018-2022 Expeditions and Navigators, this pretensioner might get stuck, making the seat belt useless in an emergency.
Risk if Unfixed
If your seat belt gets stuck, it won't be able to keep you safe in a crash. You could be at risk of injury if the belt doesn't restrain you properly.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will inspect and replace the faulty seat belt retractor for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, and check back with your dealer in August when the fix is available.

Original — What Happened
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. The seat belt pretensioner in the driver and/or front passenger seat may inadvertently lock the seat belt, which will not allow the belt to retract or extend.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
Seat belts that do not retract or extend can fail to restrain an occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt retractors as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed June 8, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated in August 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S34. This recall replaces and expands previous NHTSA recalls 24V099 and 25V197. Vehicles previously inspected or repaired under the prior recalls will need the new repair completed.
