What Happened
The rearview camera system on your Wrangler is connected to the center brake light by a wiring harness. In some 2018-2024 models, this harness can short circuit and break the connection, causing the rearview camera and center brake light to malfunction.
Risk if Unfixed
If your rearview camera image doesn't appear, you'll have reduced visibility behind your vehicle, which could lead to a crash. Additionally, if your center brake light doesn't turn on, other drivers may not see that your vehicle is slowing down, which could also lead to a crash.
Free Fix
Your Jeep dealer will replace the faulty wiring harness for the rearview camera and center brake light, and/or the spare tire carrier/harness assembly if needed, at no cost to you. This repair was already completed by January 15, 2024, but if you haven't had it done, schedule it as soon as possible.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The wiring harness for the rearview camera and the center brake light may short circuit, which can disable the rearview camera image and center brake light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, "Rear Visibility" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, a center brake light that fails to illuminate can fail to indicate to other drivers that the vehicle is slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers replaced the harness for the center brake light and rearview camera and/or the spare tire carrier/harness assembly, as necessary, free of charge. All vehicles were repaired by January 15, 2024. Owner notification letters were mailed September 26, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. What Happened
The camera system in your vehicle helps you see what's behind you when you're in reverse. In some 2019 and 2020 models, the camera image can get stuck on the screen even after you shift out of reverse.
Risk if Unfixed
If the camera image stays on the screen, it could distract you while driving, making it harder to focus on the road and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Chrysler dealer will update the software controlling your radio display, so the camera image will clear properly when you shift out of reverse. This update is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Cherokee, 2019-2020 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Renegade and 2019 Dodge Challenger vehicles equipped with 8.4" or 12" radio displays. A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."

The lingering rearview image can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will update the radio display software, free of charge. Optionally, owners can choose to remotely update their software via an Over-The-Air (OTA) update available as of May 1, 2020. The recall began April 27, 2020.
