What Happened
The brake master cylinder is a crucial part that helps you stop your vehicle. Certain aftermarket brake master cylinders, sold under brands like NAPA and Raybestos, might be in your vehicle if it was made between July 2005 and January 2006.
Risk if Unfixed
If these brake master cylinders fail in very cold temperatures, brake fluid could leak out, making your brakes less effective. This could cause your stopping distance to increase, and you could lose control of your vehicle, leading to a crash.

Your vehicle's brake master cylinder will be replaced free of charge by Affinia (Brake Parts, Inc.). You should contact them at 1-800-323-0354 to schedule the repair once you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
CERTAIN AFTERMARKET BRAKE HYDRAULIC MASTER CYLINDERS SOLD AS REPLACEMENT BRAKE CYLINDERS FOR CERTAIN FORD, DAIMLERCHRYSLER, AND JEEP PASSENGER VEHICLES. THESE BRAKE CYLINDERS WERE SOLD UNDER THE BRAND NAMES OF NAPA, RAYBESTOS, AIMCO, AC DELCO, CARQUEST, BENDIX, AND WAGNER. ONLY PRODUCTS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 27, 2005 THROUGH JANUARY 17, 2006 (DATE CODES 0529 THROUGH 0602) ARE SUBJECT TO THIS RECALL. WHEN SUBJECT TO VERY COLD TEMPERATURES, AN INTERNAL SEAL IN THE MASTER CYLINDER COULD LOSE FLEXIBILITY AND MAY CAUSE BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK.
