Component
POWER TRAIN:TRANSFER CASE (4-WHEEL DRIVE)
Manufacturer
Chrysler Group LLC
What Happened
The transfer case in your Jeep is like a gearbox that helps get power to all four wheels. In some 2005-2010 Grand Cherokees and 2006-2010 Commanders, the electrical system that controls the transfer case can fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, the transfer case could shift into neutral while you're driving, and your vehicle could roll away. This could cause a crash or put someone at risk of injury.
Free Fix
Your Chrysler dealer will update the software that controls the transfer case, making sure it works properly, and this service is completely free. You should schedule the update as soon as you get the recall notice.
