STEERING:GEAR BOX (OTHER THAN RACK AND PINION)
Manufacturer
DAIMLERCHRYSLER CORPORATION
What Happened
The steering gear box in your vehicle helps you turn the wheels. In some cases, the internal parts of this system weren't properly heat-treated, making them softer than they should be.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your steering gear could start sticking, binding, or even seize, making it hard to turn the wheels. This could make it harder to control your vehicle, especially at low speeds.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the steering gear with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice to avoid any issues with your steering.
