Component
STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE
Manufacturer
HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.)
What Happened
The power liftgate gas struts in your Odyssey are like the springs that help open and close the rear gate. In some 2005 Touring models, these struts can wear out faster than usual.
Risk if Unfixed
If a strut fails, the liftgate could close unexpectedly while someone is standing in the way, causing an injury.
Free Fix
Your Honda dealer will inspect the liftgate struts and replace them for free if they're part of the recall. This service is complimentary, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.
