POWER TRAIN Safety Recalls

Critical #05V005000 Plain English
Component

POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT

Manufacturer
GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
What Happened
The driveshaft in your vehicle is like a long rod that connects your transmission to your wheels. In some pick-up trucks, vans, and SUVs, this rod can break, causing the power steering to stop working.
Risk if Unfixed
If the driveshaft breaks, you'll have to steer your vehicle using a lot more effort, which can be tiring. If you have a hydro-boost braking system, you might also need to use more force to brake, but you won't lose control of your vehicle completely.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the driveshaft for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible to avoid any inconvenience.
