SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP

Manufacturer
GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
What Happened
The ABS system in your vehicle uses sensors to prevent wheels from locking up during hard braking. In certain conditions, the sensor on your truck or SUV might get corroded, causing the ABS to activate unnecessarily.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, you could experience longer stopping distances, especially when braking at low speeds. This could lead to a crash, especially in situations where you need to stop quickly, like on a wet or snowy road.
Free Fix
Your authorized dealer will clean and protect the wheel speed sensor, and make sure it's working properly. They'll also check the sensor's signal to make sure it's sending accurate information. This service is free of charge.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP

Manufacturer
GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
What Happened
The fuel pump wires in your truck or SUV are held together by a part called the fuel module reservoir assembly. This assembly may overheat and cause the wires to fail, which can lead to serious problems.
Risk if Unfixed
If the wires fail, your fuel pump could shut down while you're driving, causing your engine to stall. In some cases, a hole could form in the wiring, allowing fuel to leak out of the tank and potentially cause a fire if you're near an ignition source.
Free Fix
Your dealership will replace the faulty wiring assembly with a new one, free of charge. They'll also install a new service kit to ensure everything is working properly. This repair is at no cost to you, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.

Original — What Happened
CERTAIN TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH FUEL MODULE RESERVOIR ASSEMBLIES THAT CONTAIN FUEL PUMP WIRES CONNECTORS MAY OVERHEAT UNDER CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
IF THE IGNITION CIRCUIT WIRE IS EXPOSED, THE FUEL PUMP FUSE WILL BLOW, DISABLING THE FUEL PUMP AND CAUSING AN ENGINE STALL OR NO-START CONDITION. IF SUFFICIENT HEAT IS CONDUCTED TO THE PASS-THROUGH CONNECTOR, A HOLE IN THE CONNECTOR MAY RESULT, WHICH MAY CAUSE A 'SERVICE ENGINE SOON' LIGHT TO BE ILLUMINATED DURING THE EMISSION SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE. FUEL VAPOR AND IN SOME CASES LIQUID FUEL MAY LEAK OUT OF THE FUEL TANK THROUGH THE HOLE IN THE CONNECTOR BODY. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. ALSO IF THE IGNITION CIRCUIT OR GROUND WIRE IS EXPOSED AND SHORTS TO THE FUEL LEVEL SENDER CARD WIRES, INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL READINGS MAY RESULT.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE FUEL TANK, AND REMOVE THE MODULE RESERVOIR ASSEMBLIES FROM THE TANK, AND INSTALL A NEW SERVICE KIT FREE OF CHARGE. AN INTERIM LETTER TO OWNERS WAS MAILED ON MAY 25, 2005. THE OWNERS WERE RE-NOTIFIED ON OCTOBER 19, 2005, SINCE PARTS ARE NOW AVAILABE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438 AND GMC AT 1-866-996-9463.
