ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION

Manufacturer
General Motors LLC
What Happened
The ignition lock actuator in your vehicle is the part that turns the key to start the engine. In some 2011-2012 models, this part can bind, making it hard to turn the key or get stuck in the 'Start' position.
Risk if Unfixed
If the key gets stuck in the 'Start' position, the engine, steering, and brakes could shut off suddenly while you're driving, making it hard to control your vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash. If you're involved in a crash, the airbags might not deploy, putting you and your passengers at risk of serious injury.
Free Fix
Your dealer will inspect the ignition lock housing and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice, and it will be done for free.
