What Happened
The engine cover in your Dodge Journey is a protective shield that sits on top of your engine. In some 2011-2015 models with the 2.4L engine, it might not be securely attached and could fall off while driving.
Risk if Unfixed
If the engine cover comes loose and touches the exhaust manifold, it could cause a fire in your vehicle.
Free Fix
Your authorized Dodge dealer will install a reinforced engine cover mounting system for you, at no cost to you. Just schedule the repair when you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2011-2015 Dodge Journey vehicles manufactured July 19, 2010, to May 26, 2015 and equipped with 2.4L engines. In the affected vehicles, the engine cover may detach from the engine and contact the exhaust manifold.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
If the displaced engine cover contacts the exhaust manifold, there would be an increased risk of a vehicle fire.
Original — Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install an improved mounting system for the engine cover, free of charge. The recall began on October 15, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R32.

What Happened
Your engine's connecting rod bearings help keep everything running smoothly inside your engine. In some 2012 models with 3.6L engines, debris might get stuck inside the engine block, causing the bearings to fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the connecting rod bearings fail, your engine could seize up, making it hard to control your vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Chrysler dealer will replace the engine with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair once you receive the recall notice.

CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 CHRYSLER VEHICLES, INCLUDING 200 AND TOWN AND COUNTRY MODELS, DODGE VEHICLES, INCLUDING CHARGER, DURANGO, GRAND CARAVAN AND JOURNEY MODELS AND JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM AUGUST 31, 2011, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 13, 2011, THAT ARE EQUIPPED WITH 3.6L ENGINES. THESE ENGINES MAY EXPERIENCE CONNECTING ROD BEARING FAILURE DUE TO DEBRIS INSIDE THE ENGINE BLOCK.
