Component

STEERING

Manufacturer
BMW OF NORTH AMERICA, LLC
What Happened
The power steering gear in your X5 or X6 is a critical part that helps you steer the vehicle. Unfortunately, a small mistake in its manufacturing could cause power steering fluid to leak.
Risk if Unfixed
If the power steering fluid leaks onto hot exhaust parts, it could catch fire, potentially causing a serious engine compartment fire. This could leave you without control of your vehicle and put you at risk of a severe accident.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the steering gear and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. They'll take care of this free of charge, so be sure to schedule an appointment as soon as you receive the recall notice.
