What Happened
The water pump in your vehicle is a critical component that helps keep your engine cool. In certain models, a small electrical connector on the pump may not be sealed properly, which could let water in and cause a short circuit.
Risk if Unfixed
If the electrical connector shorts out, it could cause a fire, which is a serious risk to your safety and the safety of others on the road.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the water pump and plug connector, replace them if necessary, and add a protective shield to prevent future issues. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

(BMW) is recalling certain 2012-2015 X1 sDrive28i, X1 xDrive28i, 2012-2016 Z4 sDrive28i, 528i, 528i xDrive, 328i, 328xi, 2016-2018 X5 xdrive 40e, 2014-2016 228i, 228xi, 428i, 428i xDrive, 328xi Gran Turismo, 2013-2017 X3 sDrive28i, X3 xDrive28i, 2015-2018 X4 xDrive28i, 2015-2016 428xi vehicles. An improperly sealed electrical connector on the water pump may be exposed to water and short circuit.

What Happened
The high-pressure fuel pump in your vehicle is responsible for delivering diesel fuel to your engine. In certain models, this pump can fail without warning.
Risk if Unfixed
If the pump fails on the road, your engine could suddenly shut off, making it hard to control your vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will replace the faulty fuel pump with a new one at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible after receiving the recall notice.
