Component
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER
Manufacturer
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
What Happened
The turbocharger in your vehicle is a crucial part that helps your engine breathe and perform well. The oil supply strainer, which is a small filter that keeps the oil flowing to the turbocharger, might get clogged in certain 2013-2017 Audi models.
Risk if Unfixed
If the strainer gets clogged, the turbocharger's bearings will wear out quickly, possibly causing the turbine wheel to hit the housing or the shaft to break. This could make your engine stall, reducing your ability to control your vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will replace the faulty oil strainer and drain and refill the engine oil, all for free. You should schedule this repair as soon as you receive the recall notice, and you can contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 for more information.
