Component
AIR BAGS: AIR BAG/RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE
Manufacturer
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
What Happened
The air bag control module in your vehicle is like the brain that decides when to deploy the air bags and seat belt pretensioners during a crash. In certain models from 2011-2018, this module might not work as it should, which could prevent the air bags from inflating or the seat belts from tightening.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bags and/or seat belts don't work as intended in a crash, you could be at a higher risk of serious injury. This could be life-threatening, especially in severe collisions.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will inspect and update the air bag control module by installing a noise filter as needed, completely free of charge. You can expect a second letter with the repair details to arrive between March 16 and June 27, 2020.
