STEERING
Manufacturer

What Happened
The steering lock bar in your Avalon is a critical part that helps keep the steering wheel in place when the car is turned off. Sometimes, this bar can develop a small crack that can spread over time, potentially causing it to break.
Risk if Unfixed
If the steering lock bar breaks, your steering wheel will lock up, and you won't be able to steer your vehicle. This could lead to a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will replace the steering interlock device, which is the part that protects the steering lock bar, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible.

Original — Risk if Unfixed
SHOULD THE STEERING LOCK BAR BREAK, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK AND THE DRIVER WOULD LOSE THE ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
