AIR BAGS: AIR BAG/RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE

Manufacturer
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
What Happened
The airbag control module is the brain of your vehicle's airbag system, controlling when and how the airbags and seatbelts deploy in a crash. In some 2011-2019 Corolla, 2011-2013 Matrix, 2012-2018 Avalon, and 2013-2018 Avalon Hybrid models, this module might not work as it should, leaving your airbags and seatbelts from deploying properly in a crash.
Risk if Unfixed
In a crash, if your airbags and seatbelts don't work as they should, you're more likely to get hurt. You could be at risk of serious injury or even worse.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will check the airbag control module and install a noise filter between it and its wiring, if needed, at no cost to you. You'll get a second notice with instructions on how to schedule the repair, and you should take care of it as soon as possible.

Manufacturer
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
What Happened
The knee air bag in your vehicle is a crucial safety feature that protects your legs in a crash. There was a mistake in how it was attached to the dashboard in some 2016 Avalon and 2017 Camry models.
Risk if Unfixed

Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will inspect the air bag attachment and fix it for free if necessary. They'll make sure everything is secure and safe – at no cost to you.

AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION

Manufacturer
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
What Happened
The occupant classification system in your vehicle is like a brain that figures out whether a passenger is an adult or a child and decides if the air bags should inflate or not. In some 2016 Avalon and Camry models, this system might be misjudging the weight of the passenger.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bags don't inflate properly during a crash, you could be at higher risk of injury. This is a serious safety issue, as air bags are designed to protect you in the event of a collision.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will recalibrate the occupant classification system to ensure it works correctly, and this service is completely free. Just schedule an appointment when you receive the recall notice.
