What Happened
Your Jeep has a computer system called the occupant restraint controller module that helps control the side airbags. In some 2022-2026 Grand Cherokees and 2023-2025 Grand Cherokee L models, this computer has a software glitch that could delay the side airbags from deploying properly during a crash.
Risk if Unfixed
If the airbags don't deploy on time, you're at a higher risk of getting hurt in a crash.
Free Fix
Your authorized Jeep dealer will update the software in your occupant restraint controller module at no charge to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, usually by mail on June 11, 2026.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2023-2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. A software error in the occupant restraint controller module may cause the delayed deployment of the side air bags during a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

Dealers will update the occupant restraint controller module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 11, 2026. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 01D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov on May 28, 2026.
