ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE

Manufacturer
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)
What Happened
The software in your Pilot, Odyssey, or Passport controls the rearview camera display. In some 2019-2021 models, this software was programmed incorrectly, causing issues with the camera image.
Risk if Unfixed
If the software problem occurs, your rearview camera display could be delayed or not work at all. This might reduce your view of what's behind your vehicle, making a collision more likely.
Free Fix
You'll receive a notification with instructions to download and update the software for free. Alternatively, you can visit a Honda dealer to have the software updated, also at no cost to you.

Original — What Happened
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Pilot, 2019-2020 Odyssey and 2019-2020 Passport vehicles. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A delayed or inoperative rearview camera display can reduce the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Honda will notify owners that updated software is available. Owners have the option to either follow the mailed instructions to download and update the software for free, or visit a dealer to have the software update performed, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is Y7Y.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING

Manufacturer
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)
What Happened
The wire harness for your Odyssey's third-row seat accessory power outlet is a bundle of wires that brings electricity to the outlet. In some 2018-2020 models, this harness can get squeezed between the car's frame and a trim panel, damaging the wires.
Risk if Unfixed
If the wires get damaged, there's a chance of a short circuit, which could cause the wire harness to overheat and potentially start a fire.
Free Fix
Your Honda dealer will inspect the wire harness and fix any damage or apply protective tape and re-route the harness to prevent it from getting pinched again. This repair is free of charge.
