Component
STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE
Manufacturer
HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.)
What Happened
The gas-filled struts in your Odyssey's power liftgate help it open and close smoothly. In some 2008-2009 models, these struts might fail early due to a manufacturing issue, causing them to leak.
Risk if Unfixed
If the struts fail, the liftgate might close unexpectedly, which could lead to injuries, especially if you're in the way.
Free Fix
Your Honda dealer will replace both power liftgate gas struts with new ones at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.
