Component
STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The electric power steering system in your vehicle uses a control unit to help power your steering. In certain cases, the contact pins on this unit may not have been properly welded, causing friction that could lead to a problem.
Risk if Unfixed
If the contact pins are not welded correctly, you could experience a fire, even when your vehicle is parked and turned off. This is a serious safety risk.
Free Fix
Your vehicle was actually already fixed at the dealership before it was sold to you, so there's no repair needed. But if you have any questions or concerns, you can contact BMW's customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
