What Happened
Your Audi's engine has a small electric pump that helps keep it cool. In some 2012-2017 models, this pump can get clogged with debris or short-circuit due to moisture, which can cause the engine to overheat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the pump fails, your engine could overheat, which can cause a fire. This is a serious risk that could lead to costly repairs or even an accident.
Free Fix
Audi will replace the faulty pump with a new one at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair at an authorized Audi dealer as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2013-2017 Audi A5 Cabriolet, A5 Sedan and Audi Q5 vehicles, 2012-2015 Audi A6 vehicles and 2013-2016 Audi A4 Sedan and A4 allroad vehicles. These vehicles, equipped with 2.0l Turbo FSI engines, have an electric coolant pump that can either become blocked with debris from the cooling system causing it to overheat or can short-circuit from moisture within the pump.

A blocked pump or a short-circuited pump can increase the risk of a fire.
Original — Remedy
Audi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the pumps, free of charge. The recall began September 14, 2018. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number's for this recall is 19N3/19N4. Note: This recall is in additional to the coolant pump software update applied as a remedy under recall 17V002.

What Happened
The electric coolant pump in your vehicle's cooling system is designed to keep your engine at the right temperature. However, in certain 2012-2017 Audi models, debris from the cooling system can clog this pump, causing it to overheat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the coolant pump overheats, it could cause a fire, which could lead to significant damage to your vehicle.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will update the software to automatically shut off the power to the coolant pump if it gets clogged, protecting your vehicle from damage. This update is free, and you'll be notified when it's time to bring your car in for the repair.
