What Happened
The electric coolant pump in your vehicle is a critical part of the cooling system, helping to keep your engine from overheating. In some 2012-2017 Audi models with 2.0L Turbo FSI engines, this pump can get clogged with debris or short-circuit from excess moisture, which could lead to a fire.
Risk if Unfixed
A blocked or short-circuited coolant pump could cause your engine to overheat, leading to a fire. This is a serious risk that could damage your vehicle and potentially put you and others in harm's way.
Free Fix
Audi will replace the faulty electric coolant pump with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule a repair at your local Audi dealership as soon as possible.

Original — What Happened
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2013-2017 Audi A5 Cabriolet, A5 Sedan and Audi Q5 vehicles, 2012-2015 Audi A6 vehicles and 2013-2016 Audi A4 Sedan and A4 allroad vehicles. These vehicles, equipped with 2.0l Turbo FSI engines, have an electric coolant pump that can either become blocked with debris from the cooling system causing it to overheat or can short-circuit from moisture within the pump.

A blocked pump or a short-circuited pump can increase the risk of a fire.
Original — Remedy
Audi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the pumps, free of charge. The recall began September 14, 2018. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number's for this recall is 19N3/19N4. Note: This recall is in additional to the coolant pump software update applied as a remedy under recall 17V002.

What Happened
The electric coolant pump in your Audi is a small electric motor that helps keep your engine cool. In some 2012-2017 models with a 2.0L turbo engine, this pump can get clogged with coolant debris, causing it to overheat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the pump overheats, it can increase the risk of a fire in your engine compartment, which could cause significant damage and potentially put you and others at risk.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will update the software to automatically shut off the power to the pump if it's clogged, preventing overheating and potential fires. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
