What Happened
The air bag system in your vehicle has a sensor that checks to make sure the passenger air bag deploys correctly. In some 2017-2019 Audi models, the sensor's cable could corrode, causing the air bag to malfunction.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag is disabled, you could be at greater risk of injury in a crash. This is because the air bag won't deploy to help cushion the impact.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will secure the air bag sensor cable with cable ties to prevent corrosion, and the repair is free. You should schedule the fix as soon as you get the recall notice.

(Audi) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Audi RS5 Sportback, 2018 S5 Cabriolet, S5 Sportback, S5 Coupe, S4 Sedan, A5 Cabriolet, A5 Sportback, A5 Coupe, and 2017-2018 A4 Sedan and A4 Allroad vehicles. Oxidation on the Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS) connecting cable may cause the software to misdiagnose a malfunction and disable the passenger air bag.

What Happened
The front suspension in your Audi A5 Sportback helps stabilize your vehicle while driving. In some 2018 models, the bolts that hold the front wheels in place might not have been tightened properly during manufacturing, which could cause the wheel to come loose.

If the front wheel comes loose, it could make it harder to steer your vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

As such, these vehicle fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

The metal trim on the doors of your vehicle is attached around the speakers. Over time, it can come loose, exposing sharp edges that could cut you.
Risk if Unfixed
If the trim comes loose, the sharp edges could cut you if you touch them. This could happen when you're getting in or out of your vehicle, or when you're reaching for something inside.
