What Happened
The power steering hose in your 2008-2009 Volvo is a critical part that helps you steer. Unfortunately, a section of this hose wasn't properly sealed and could break apart.
Risk if Unfixed
If the hose ruptures, you'll lose power steering assistance, making it harder to steer your vehicle. This could lead to a crash.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will inspect and replace the power steering hose assembly at no cost to you. Schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
VOLVO IS RECALLING MY 2008-2009 VEHICLES. A SECTION OF THE POWER STEERING RETURN LINE HOSE WAS NOT PROPERLY VULCANIZED (CURED) AND DOES NOT MEET SPECIFICATIONS. IF THE POWER STEERING RETURN HOSE FAILS, A SUDDEN RUPTURE OF THE HOSE CAN OCCUR.

THIS CAN RESULT IN A RAPID DRAINAGE OF THE POWER STEERING FLUID IN THE SYSTEM AND A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER ASSISTANCE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

What Happened
The Garmin GPS unit in your vehicle is a small device that helps with navigation. In certain units, the battery inside this device can overheat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the battery overheats, it could catch fire, which is a serious risk to your safety and the safety of those around you.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the faulty battery in your Garmin GPS unit with a new one, and add a spacer for extra protection. This service is completely free, so you should schedule it as soon as possible.

VOLVO ADVISES OWNERS TO PLEASE STOP USING THE GARMIN PORTABLE GPS DEVICE IMMEDIATELY, AND VISIT THE GARMIN WEBSITE TO DETERMINE IF THEIR UNIT IS AFFECTED. THE UNIT'S BATTERY WILL BE REPLACED WITH A NEW BATTERY AND A SPACER WILL BE INSERTED ON TOP OF THE BATTERY NEXT TO THE PCB. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. The power front passenger seat in your vehicle has a mechanism to stop it from moving forward too far, but it was made incorrectly and might not work properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the seat can move too far forward, you could get hurt in a crash because you won't be properly restrained.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will check the seat stops on both front seats to make sure they're working correctly. If not, they'll fix them for free, so schedule a visit as soon as you get the recall notice.
