What Happened
The fuel pump module in your vehicle is an electronic part that helps the fuel pump work properly. In areas with high salt levels, like coastal states, it can corrode over time and send a faulty signal to the fuel pump.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, you might notice the check engine light coming on, or your car might stall while you're trying to start it. In the worst case, it could leave you stranded or increase the risk of a crash while driving.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will swap out the faulty module for a new one, and install it in a spot that's protected from corrosion, all at no cost to you. Schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

ON CERTAIN VEHICLES SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, WEST VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN, AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, REOCCURRING, LONG-TERM EXPOSURE TO CERTAIN ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS SUCH AS SALTY-WET CONDITIONS, IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE PUMP ELECTRONIC MODULE (PEM) TO BECOME CORRODED INTERNALLY. THIS CAN CAUSE A FAULTY SIGNAL TO THE FUEL PUMP, RESULTING IN LOW OR NO FUEL PRESSURE TO THE ENGINE.

Original — Remedy
