FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP

Manufacturer
VOLVO CARS OF N.A. LLC.
What Happened
The Fuel Pump Electronic Module (PEM) in your vehicle is like a computer that talks to the fuel pump. It's located near the fuel tank and can be damaged by salty-wet conditions in certain states.
Risk if Unfixed
If this module gets damaged, it could send a faulty signal to the fuel pump, causing your engine to stall or not start at all. This could lead to a crash, especially if you're driving on the highway.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the damaged PEM with a new one and move it to a safer location to prevent corrosion. This repair is completely free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

Manufacturer
VOLVO CARS OF N.A. LLC.
What Happened
The fuel line in your vehicle has a special tube made of a material that's sensitive to extreme temperatures. This tube is part of the fuel system that brings gasoline from the tank to your engine.
Risk if Unfixed
If the extreme temperatures near the turbocharger and exhaust manifold cause the tube to degrade, it could start leaking fuel. If this leak meets an ignition source, like a spark, it could lead to a fire.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the fuel line with a new one made of a more heat-resistant material called Teflon - and you won't be charged a thing. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible.

Original — Risk if Unfixed
THIS MAY POTENTIALLY RESULT IN FUEL LINE LEAKAGE. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL CHANGE THE FUEL LINE MATERIAL TO TEFLON FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 5, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLVO CARS AT 1-800-458-1552.
