What Happened
The high-pressure diesel pump in your vehicle is what pushes fuel into the engine. Unfortunately, in certain models, the pump's fasteners weren't installed correctly, which could let fuel leak out.
Risk if Unfixed
If fuel leaks out and there's a spark, it could ignite and cause a fire. This is a serious situation that could put you and others at risk.
Free Fix
Your Volkswagen dealer will replace the faulty diesel pump with a new one, at no charge to you. You should contact them to schedule the repair as soon as possible.

Original — What Happened
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE HIGH PRESSURE DIESEL PUMPS WERE PRODUCED WITH AN IMPROPER FASTENER, WHICH COULD ALLOW DIESEL FUEL TO ESCAPE FROM THE PUMP.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE MAY LEAD TO A FIRE.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DIESEL PUMP. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 8, 2005. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT VOLKSWAGEN AT 1-800-822-8987.
