Component
SEAT BELTS:FRONT:RETRACTOR
Manufacturer
TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA, INC.
What Happened
The seat belt pretensioners in your Yaris are designed to tighten your seat belts in a severe frontal impact. They're located under the front seats, near a foam pad that helps reduce noise when you drive.
Risk if Unfixed
If a severe impact triggers the pretensioners, the foam pads could catch fire, which could lead to a post-crash fire that puts you and others at risk.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will remove the foam pads under the pretensioners for free. This will prevent the risk of a fire in the event of a severe impact, and the repair is free of charge.
