Manufacturer
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
What Happened
The fuel pump in your 2019-2020 Yaris, Yaris Hatchback, or Yaris Sedan is the part that sends gasoline from the tank to your engine. In some cases, a small metal piece called an impeller inside the fuel pump can break, which might cause the pump to fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the fuel pump fails, your engine could stall while you're driving, which could increase the risk of a crash. You might lose power steering and power brakes, making it harder to control the vehicle.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will replace the faulty fuel pump with a new one at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible, especially if you've already received a recall notice letter.
