What Happened
The headliner in your Yaris is designed to protect you and your passengers in a crash. In some 2012-2015 models made for Puerto Rico, the headliner might not provide enough protection, which could put you and your loved ones at risk.
Risk if Unfixed
If there's a crash, you and your passengers may be more likely to get hurt because the headliner won't do its job, which is to absorb the impact and keep you safe.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will replace the headliner with a stronger one that meets the safety standards, and it's free. You'll get a notification, and you should schedule the repair as soon as you can.

Original — What Happened
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Yaris vehicles manufactured August 31, 2011, to February 9, 2015, and sold or registered in Puerto Rico. The affected vehicles may have been manufactured with a roof headliner that does not provide the proper occupant protection in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 201, " Occupant Protection in Interior Impact."
Original — Risk if Unfixed
If the vehicles are equipped with a headliner that does not meet the impact requirements, there is an increased risk of occupantl injury in the event of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the headliner, free of charge. The recall began on June 22, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
