What Happened
The driveshaft in your AMG GT is a long rod that transmits power from your transmission to your wheels. In certain 2016-2018 models, the bond between the driveshaft and its connection point might not be strong enough.
Risk if Unfixed
If the driveshaft separates on the road, you could lose power to your wheels, making it harder to steer and brake. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Mercedes-Benz dealer will inspect the driveshaft and replace it if necessary, all at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2016-2018 AMG GT vehicles. The bonding between the carbon-fiber driveshaft and the flange may be insufficient, which could result in driveshaft separation.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A separated driveshaft may cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the carbon-fiber driveshaft, as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed October 15, 2021. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2021090008.

What Happened
The driveshaft in your vehicle is like a long rod that connects your engine to your wheels. It's made of carbon fiber, which can be strong, but in some 2016-2017 AMG GTS and 2017 AMG GT models, the bond between the driveshaft and the engine is weak.
Risk if Unfixed
If the driveshaft breaks apart while you're driving, you'll lose power to your wheels and may struggle to control your vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Mercedes-Benz dealer will replace the entire driveshaft, including the connection point, with a stronger version, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.
