What Happened
Your Accent's steering column is the part that connects the steering wheel to the front wheels. In some 2021-2022 models, a small bolt that holds this column in place might not be tightened correctly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the bolt isn't secure, the steering column could break away from the steering rack while you're driving, making it hard to control your vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Hyundai dealer will check and tighten the bolt that holds the steering column in place, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Accent vehicles. A bolt in the steering column may not be secured properly, which can cause the steering column to detach from the steering rack and result in a loss of steering control.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
Loss of steering control can increase the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will inspect and tighten the lower steering column u-joint retention bolt, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 5, 2022. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 226.
